Vegan on Budget 💰

I am sure many people did not see my old post. The prices are outdated but still it can be a good guide for baby vegans or who are trying to save which is not easy in the current economy 🙃

It has the grocery list, breakfast and main menu.

I am also attaching the link to the pdf file if you want to save it

The easiest dressing which pairs so well with many salads or can be used as spread for sandwiches if you add less water to make it more thick. I did not measure ingredients precisely but here are my guesstimations 🙃 use less basil leaves if you don’t like strong flavor

  • 100 g spinach
  • 60 g basil leaves
  • ½ lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp tahini
  • 1 garlic clove
  • Salt to taste
  • Water (add it slowly to reach the desired consistency)

Vegans in Warsaw - Wegańska Warszawa pt.3

Today’s main character is “Wege Umami”, a vegetarian and vegan restaurant. It has two locations in Warsaw: Żoliborz and Wola districts.

I was in Ogrody Ulricha (which literally means Ulrich’s garden) at Wola. Ogrody has several different restaurants under one roof so it’s very easy to find something appealing. When it’s warm, you can enjoy food and beverages outside.

We ordered vegan crepes with apples and berries and “festive” aubergine with vegetables. Everything was delicious, especially crepes! It’s first time I ordered vegan crepes, not pancakes, here in Warsaw. We paid 58 PLN (~13.83 USD or 12.90 EUR) which is a very good price for Warsaw.

Unfortunately, they don’t have English Menu on their website but they have it onsite, so no worries 😉 But…just to tease you, they have vegan shakshuka, salad with baked pumpkin and pears, mushrooms pyzy (Polish type of dumplings), soy noodles, vegan desserts, and many more.

Go there and you won’t regret 😋

Vegans in Warsaw - Wegańska Warszawa pt.2

I went to a new restaurant/bakery in Warsaw - Żywioły. Before I was either in a bakery or in a restaurant. In my universe those two places are located on the opposite sides: a bakery is something small, comfy, preferably local, and a restaurant is something elevated. This place, however, has the benefits of both. Certainly, it’s elegant and not small at all, but without high posh vibes which make you feel uncomfortable and you are afraid to grab the fork.

Look at this. Yes, it’s not a typical bakery or a coffee house but warm colours calm you down. On the left side, there is a big corner with the various croissants, desserts, sandwiches, brioches, you name it, they have everything. Only one big downside is that they don’t have vegan desserts 😐

…and they also don’t have many vegan options in general. So I ordered crushed eggplant with vegan feta cheese and raspberry lemonade. It was delicious but the lemonade was too sweet to my taste. My sister took roasted grain lemonade and I liked hers more.

I’d come back there to try their vegan sandwiches because sandwiches are one of my favourite meals. I often eat alone when I work from office and I prefer to grab a croissant or tofu sandwich in a near-by cafe. Hm 🤔 probably I need to make a post about my favourite sandwiches in Warsaw 🙃

Almost forgot… if you are in Warsaw and you want to go to Żywioły, here is the address: Chmielna 19.

I post my museum/exhibition trips from time to time. Today I came with “Monet & The Impressionists” exhibition. I would not call the exhibition this way but I am not the curator for good or for bad.

It does not have original works of artists. The first part of the exhibition shows the very short bio and the description of the most famous paintings which was not the purpose of mine because internet exists. However, the second part is a continuous footage of “live” paintings accompanied by breathtaking music.

I cannot attach two videos in one post so here is the original masterpiece of Monet…

… and the famous ballerinas of another French impressionist Degas. I saw them in Vienna last year. I want to move there to go to different museums as often as I need.

I tried SOFT fried tofu and it was so good. I am speechless. I thought it is not possible to fry soft tofu because it will crumble but nope it is one of the best way to cook this kind of tofu. It is so soft inside and so crispy outside. I need to find the good recipe…
